September 15, 2023, The City of Watonga hosted an open house welcoming the public; launching our "first in the nation" affordable 2 bedroom2 bathroom Zona Verde "green" house. The guests included many community citizens, Watonga City employees, local business interested in the development, along with State dignitaries as well as representatives of the State of Oklahoma tribal banking executives. The excitement was palpable as Watonga launches into becoming the test market for this type of housing development for the state as well as for the nation. I had the opportunity to chat with several individuals who gave us their opinions of our city's new build.
